Veneers are thin porcelain shells placed over the front of your teeth to cover imperfections such as stains, chips, cracks, and gaps. They are custom made to fit your mouth perfectly and are bonded to the front surface of your tooth.
At Deep Ellum Advanced Dentistry, the veneers we offer are made of either composite resin or porcelain material. Porcelain veneers are more durable than composite veneers and resist staining better. However, they are more expensive. Composite veneers are less expensive but are less stable.
The Procedure for Getting Veneers
The veneer procedure requires two visits to our office. During the first visit, our dentist iin Dallas, TX, Dr. Wing, will prepare the tooth surface by removing a thin layer of enamel. Next, we will take impressions of the teeth, which will be sent to our lab as the basis for the fabrication of the veneers. Temporary veneers will be placed over the prepared teeth to protect them while your permanent veneers are being fabricated. Once these custom veneers are ready, you will return to our office to have them permanently placed.
At the second appointment, the temporary veneers will be removed, and the permanent ones will be cemented into place. We will check the fit and color before bonding them in place. Once they are bonded, they will look and feel just like natural teeth.
